Problem

One of the most important aspects of Medicaid Expansion is ensuring that healthcare is available to as many individuals as possible. The expansion of Medicaid has benefited access to healthcare to lower income individuals, economic improvements to the states, and financial improvements to healthcare providers (Ammula and Guth 2023). It is disheartening to me that in states that have not expanded Medicaid there continues to be millions of people without healthcare. Despite the federal government covering 90 percent of the cost, and offering additional incentives, several states have continued to decline the implementation of the Medicaid Expansion program. It is possible that that political beliefs are informing the decision making of those last few states. As Ammula & Guth, (2023) assert current control of the House of Representatives there is little reason to believe that those ten states will change their position.
