Textbook: Roberts, C. M., & Hyatt, L. (2019). The dissertation journey: A practical guide to planning, writing, and defending your dissertation (3rded.). Corwin Publishing Co. ISBN- 9781506373331. Read Chapter 10.
Carefully read the different sections of the assigned chapter about selecting and describing the methodology used.
I. Now, identify each piece located in your selected dissertation and write about it in the order provided in the textbook readings. This section lists the different parts that should be seen in a methodology section of the dissertation you found online. Reflect and then write about your findings in a 1250-word paper.
II. Your paper will include each listed section as a new heading explaining your selected dissertation. This will include as a title: Critique of a Dissertation's Methodology. The headings will include Introduction; Kind of Research; Sample and Population; Instrumentation; Data Collection and Procedures; Data Analysis; Limitations, Weaknesses of the Study; and a Conclusion.
III. Each section has a series of textbook questions that you will use to describe what you have found in the dissertation study you selected. Note that some dissertations may not have all the needed information as listed. As such, you will have to note whether or not it affects the reader's understanding of what took place in the research's methodological portion. Be sure to include a copy of the dissertation again (in the form of an attachment with the assignment) with your assignment submission this week so that your instructor can examine your claims against the information in the dissertation you chose.
IV. The purpose of this activity is to help you see how these various parts of the methodology section improve the understanding of what took place during the research in hopes that whoever reads this section can easily attempt to recreate this study and perhaps change one of the variables to see if it would make a difference in the findings.
