You have recently been hired as a consultant to work with a large, high tech company that wants to change its culture. The organization has traditionally been quite successful but increasing competition over the last two years has started to drive down profits. Employees in general seem to be complacent and there seems to be an overall lack of innovation in the company. There used to be an employee stock option program and many of the original employees became very wealthy as a result. However, no such program exists today for the average employee, and even if it did, the stock price has been stagnant for several years now. The company used to be a coveted destination for the best young tech talent, but increasingly, those talented individuals are going elsewhere. The company's founder is on the board and is still highly revered by employees. In fact, the firm's headquarters is filled with pictures and quotes from the founder. The CEO is a longtime employee of the organization who has been with the organization for 15 years and is very close with the founder. Some in the organization have complained that the entire top leadership team is made up of long tenured individuals who are "living in the past." Many of those in senior positions complain that "things aren't like they used to be" when the organization was smaller and people seemed to know each other on a personal level, and even get together outside of work.
