As you function as a provider of care in the maternity clinical rotation, patients will ask you numerous questions about their own care and the care of their newborn. For each of the following questions, provide YOUR response. Put in your own words exactly what you would say to the patient. Do not say "the nurse would teach..." Make sure you give them ample information and don't just say "ask your doctor."

Be sure to answer the question using language that the parents understand and avoid using medical terminology or abbreviations. This assignment demonstrates your ability to effectively communicate with patients. Consider the parent's level of education, their vocabulary, their need for assurance that their infant is normal and the accuracy of the information you are providing.

You must cite a reference for each question. Use your maternity textbook as the primary reference and list the page number. You may need additional references, if so, cite your reference completely. If you use a website, it must be a professional website
