Instruction:
A final report in project management would normally provide an overview of the project including budget and start and end dates. The report would also include any outstanding items, a note on performance (sometimes quantifiable. sometimes qualitative), all the deliverables with indication of delivered or not, any feedback from the customer. and lessons learned. Given the nature of this course and that a project was planned but not yet executed (and is fictional), a final report here will be more or less for the work done throughout and the course itself. As such. in your groups, please answer the following questions in a memo format back to me:
1. Now that you have gone through the course, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently on your project charter? This isn't about my feedback, necessarily, but would you be more thorough or less? Would you change how you thought about deliverables? Would you adjust how you did the budgets? Look through your charter and be reflective internally and with your group members, then be reflective when you answer this question.
2. Similar to 1., what would you do differently related to the WBS? A student asked how do you decide how far to break the sub-deliverables down - a good question but one that's dependent on the project manager, the customer, the work. and overall context - this may be one area you could look at.
3. What were the top three things learned about in the content of this course that you could see being applicable to you in the future? For each of those three things. what do you think is important to remember about them?
4. What were three challenges related to the course and what ways did you or could you mitigate those in the future? These can be content related, delivery related, virtual team related, or whatever other challenge that took place.
So although this isn't a typical final report. it still serves the same purpose. A reflection of what has gone on over the course of the project (in this case, the course being the project) with an emphasis on trying to gain the most from the experience.
Again, this is for your group to do. This should not be longer than three pages single spaced (two probably is sufficient). I prefer sans serif style of font as it slows down the reader (ideal in business reading). For those about to Google the difference, sans serif fonts don't have tails so fonts like arial, calibri are sans serif whereas times new roman is a serif font.
