LD7015 Engineering and Environment Advanced Practice
Assignment Specification
You will have already developed through previous modules in your chosen specialism a good understanding of the key concepts. This knowledge will be further developed through directed and independent research tutored and research led activity. This will subsequently inform a specific challenge or a role which you will take on during your research study. This requires an Enquiry Based approach, which starts with you identifying the role and the challenge you wish to solve. In the early stages of the module, you will develop a learning plan in which you will identify areas of learning that you expect to be useful and relevant to your placement role. Your placement supervisor will also provide feedback at this stage and signpost you to other areas of practice in the specific field.

Introduction
This module is designed to promote your personal and professional development by offering you the opportunity to experience learning out-with your taught programme of study. Learning will be on a research study led by an academic member of staff and you will by applying existing research related skills and knowledge to new situations and enhancing professional skills in your chosen discipline. The teaching and learning plan outlines the tutor-directed study and independent reading. In addition, you will be supported by academic supervisor who will have regular meetings with you and you will be required to create minutes of the meetings.The learning and teaching will be supported by a directed learning which will focus on a range of activities including pre-reading, preparation for research-based activities and use of the activities on the e-learning platform. Throughout your research study, you will actively engage with your academic supervisor. High level of participation will be required from you to undertake this research project.
Independent learning will help you focus on identifying and pursuing areas of interest in relation to the research study or by providing deeper/broader knowledge and understanding of the subject through a range of learning activities that might include extended reading, reflection, research etc and application of these to your research-based project.
Critical reflection on knowledge, experience and practice underpins the learning and teaching philosophy along with the explicit development of competence with specific reflection here on the relevance and application of theory to "hands-on" research practice". Assessment on the module is designed to develop your ability as a reflective life-long learner by facilitating self-evaluation of learning against your personal learning contract.
The summative assessment of this module is a combination of an individual reflective report and a poster presentation. The assessment is focussed on your development from the perspective of gaining research skills in Cyber Security and related topics to enable you to explore research related careers including pursuing for a research degree.

Assignment Tasks
Part A
1. If you are an Advanced Practice student and chosen to do Research Project, please follow as below:
You will provide a 3,000-word reflective report on your learning during your Advanced Practice research study. This will clearly articulate and evaluate achievements related to goals identified in your personal learning contract and be supported by a portfolio of evidence (MLO1, 2, 3, 5).
Before you embark on the research study you need to identify your research topic. In order to do this, you need to suggest a research Project Proposal. You are to provide in maximum of 500 words your research proposal within the context of your supervisor research activates, (MLO1, 2, 3, 5) by the end of 2nd week. This should include the following:
• Title of your research project
• Indicative literature review
• Purpose statement
• Research question
• Research design
• References (2-3 maximum)
2. If you are an Advanced Practice student and doing your Internship, please follow as below:
You will provide a 3,000-word reflective report on your learning during your Advanced Practice research study. This will clearly articulate and evaluate achievements related to goals identified in your personal learning contract below and be supported by a portfolio of evidence.
Part B
Poster - You will all deliver a 10-minute poster presentation to staff, including your academic mentor, and peers. The poster will focus on the core learning derived from your Advanced Practice but should also detail the experiential learning journey.
