Reflecting on what you have learned thus far in previous chapters and this week's chapter, what would the role of a child life specialist be? What would you focus on and why? Give examples and rationale. Julie is a 6 year old female in the 1st grade at Wolfson Elementary School. Julie lives with her mother, father, 2 older brothers, and 1 younger sister. Her maternal grandparents live in the same town. Julie is involved in dance and softball outside of school. Julie was in an ATV accident, hitting a tree, leaving her with multiple injuries. These injuries include a liver and spleen laceration, a broken arm, a broken femur, and a TBI due to not having a helmet on. Julie has spent the last 107 days in the PICU in critical condition. She has had multiple surgeries along with infections and complications. She will be transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital due to her TBI and ongoing need of support.
