Question: Is Kickboxing mostly an Aerobic or Anaerobic activity and what would the metabolic reason for this be? I know there are periods of high intensity combinations utilizing the anaerobic system, but there are also periods of relaxation and less intensity throughout the fight. Would one metabolic system run out of energy requiring another to be used? Mainly talking about the PCr system, the oxidative system, and anaerobic glycolysis. At what point during a 12 round match(early rounds, mid rounds, late rounds) would each system be most active and would this have to do with VO2max?
