A 32-year-old Caucasian male reports to clinic complaining of an intermittent dull "ache" in his left groin. He states it does not hurt all the time and "it isn't bad, it's just annoying and uncomfortable." He states it usually bothers him after working out. He states he can feel a "spongy" area in his scrotum but it seems to "go away and then come back." Upon physical exam, you find no obvious abnormality to penis, scrotum, or groin area and no lymphadenopathy. Upon palpation of the scrotum, there is an odd, bag of worms-type mass in the left scrotum. It is not particularly uncomfortable for him when palpated. What would be the most appropriate next step in his management?
