Question: A patient is an 18 year old bisexual Latino male who has had worsening episodes of binge eating and vomiting. This occurs over three times a week for the last several months but started in childhood. There has been 10-20lb weight fluctuations in the past several months with most recently weight gain despite restricting food. He has started shoplifting, stealing money for food and recently started use of methamphetamines to help decrease his appetite. There is a decreased need for sleep as well. Recent lab work showed hypokalemia, increased BUN/Cr ratio, volume depletion and scarring on the dorsum of right hand.

What would be the differential diagnosis for this patient and what medications would help ant why? How should the physiological complications be monitored?
