The debates of the Constitutional Convention and future visions of the United States carried over into the New Republic. These two visions were championed by Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. These men held sharply differing views on policy and constitutional interpretation and their approach to governance led to the first major debates of the New Republic.

Question: Jefferson and Hamilton had different versions of what the United States could be. Which of these two versions of the United States do you think is most prevalent today? What would be an example that supports your claim? Be sure to explain at least one aspect of Hamilton's and Jefferson's visions of the United States.
