A little background on his case: he got in an accident and it caused him to injury his spinal stenosis. He has a wife whom he have been married to for 55 years who takes care of him daily. He no longer receives a home aid that comes 1-2 times a week, because the insurance stopped paying for it. His wife/daughter cooks his meals. He isn't physically active, that is due to his injury. He is in a wheelchair, it's electric and its broke so his wife has to push him from place to place. They rely on the bus for transportation. His only social interaction/support he has is with his wife and daughter. Some other HELPFUL THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY ADD IS:

Ensuring that he's eating the right amount of calories, separating his diet into 3 well-balanced meals per day. Encouraging him to maintain at least 15-30 g of fiber each day to assist in bowel management and preventing constipation. Educating on drinking enough fluids - this will assist in bowel management, as well as UTI prevention (1.5 L/day minimum) - super important to prevent autonomic dysreflexia. This will also ensure that the skin is hydrated to assist in avoiding skin breakdown. A recommendation for 1 cup of cranberry juice per day (unsweetened)
assists in reducing the amount of poor bacteria in the urinary tract. Plus, being he can't perform weight-bearing aerobic activity, it's important to recommend supplements such as vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus for bone health. All as part of a smart goal for this patient.
