1. Mr. Reed, your 89 year old resident has COPD. When you answer his call light, he complains of having dyspnea. He is on oxygen at 2 liters/min via a nasal cannula. He is lying on his right side. The HOB of his bed is flat.
What will you do before you alert the nurse?

The nurse comes to check Mr. Reed. When she takes his pulse oximetry reading it is 95%. When you take his vital signs, they are all normal. The nurse tells you to keep an eye on Mr. Reed but that he can continue with his normal ADL's. The nurse wants you to get another set of vital signs in 2 hours.
2. You finish with Mr. Reed's AM cares and he is ready to go to breakfast. Usually ambulatory, he says he does not want to walk to the dining room for breakfast this morning.
