In an effort to repopulate a remote island with birds, 20 birds were released on the island and established a mating population. Two of the birds are carriers of the recessive "large toes" allele. This allele will prevent the birds from flying. Assuming that the frequency of this allele does not change as the population grows, what will be the incidence of large toe syndrome on the island? If the population of the island does grow to 250 birds, how many of them will be unable to fly?
