These personality tests are the most well-known and each serves a different purpose: Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), Neuroticism-Extraversion-Openness Personality Inventory (and Five-Factor Inventory), and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The MMPI is primarily used in clinical settings to help diagnose psychological disorders, but has also been used in counseling and hiring practices. The NEO is often used in research and shortened versions are available, although loose some reliability in results. The NEO specifically identifies the Big Five Factors in Personality. The MBTI is the most used personality inventory, but its reliability and validity are criticized. It is often used in popular psychology and versions of it are all over the web with statements linking your personality type to your perfect mate and career.
