You are a senior officer in the human resources department and you are charged with creating a memo that will be sent out to all the 3,000 employees at your large company. Your company has been in business for 80 years but profits are slowing some. The company is still profitable but not as profitable as it has been in the last few years. While doing the necessary research it has been decided that it is time to launch a new product that the R&D department has just perfected. However, the research has also shown that the product should be nicely received in some foreign markets as well (Canada, Central America, and Asia). The company has decided that it will need to close several of the local offices in order to free up resources for expansion into the new foreign markets. The first set of foreign offices will be opening in about 6 months and all impacted local offices will be closed within 8 months. Please try to take matters into consideration from all employees' perspectives.

NOTE: Use whatever liberties and any industry you would like to complete this memo.

After completing the memo please explain:

  1. What were some of the matters you took into consideration when creating the memo?
  2. What were you ultimately trying to accomplish?
  3. What would be your measure of success for this communication?
