Let's start with the section that is headlined "Global CO₂ Emissions"

1. In the first graph on the page, what were the total annual CO₂ emissions in 2017?

2. Now scroll down to the next graph (Annual total CO2 emissions by world region). Which region had the largest CO₂ emissions in 2018? What were the 2nd and 3rd largest?

3. Scroll down to the next graph (Year-on-year change in CO₂ emissions). Click on "Add country" in the upper-left hand corner of the graph, and select the three regions you discovered in question 2. Once you have done that, you can also change the date range using the timeline bar at the bottom of the graph... change it to 2000-2018.

a. Which one has seen the biggest INCREASES since 2000 (the highest points on the graph)?

b. Which one has seen the biggest DECREASES since 2000 (the lowest points on the graph)?

Now scroll down to the section that is headlined "Cumulative CO₂ emissions"

4. The first map (not the one with the boxes on it... the map below that) shows cumulative (total) CO₂ emissions through 2018. Which country has emitted the most CO₂ cumulatively (and how much)? Which country has emitted the 2nd most (and how much)?

5. Staying on that chart, you can scroll (using the scroll bar below the graph) to view other years. Go to 2000 and look at the SAME TWO COUNTRIES from question 4. To calculate the amount of CO₂ emitted since 2000, subtract the cumulative emissions in 2000 from the cumulative emissions in 2018.

a. How much CO₂ has the #1 emitter country (from question 1) emitted since 2000?

b. How much CO₂ has the #2 emitted country (from question 1) emitted since 2000?

6. Comment on the significance of your answers from questions 1 and 2. Specifically, which of the two countries looked at has experienced the biggest increase in CO₂ emissions from 2000, and what are some reasons you think that it? (You can do some research if you'd like but remember to CITE your sources... AND NO WIKIPEDIA!!!)

Note: The country that has experienced the largest increase in CO₂ emissions is a country with a rapidly developing economy and one of the largest (if not the largest) populations in the world.

7. With that said, scroll up to the "Per Capita CO₂emissions" (right above the Annual CO₂ emissions) section and look at the first map (hint: you can scroll over the color bar to highlight countries that emit a certain amount of CO₂ ... In fact, you're going to want to do that, because the countries with the highest CO₂ emissions per capita are very tiny).
