Question: Walking home to my apartment one evening, I decided to stop by the bodega to pick up some school supplies. I chose a blue notebook, a black notebook, a 3-pack of pens, and a binder clip to hold them together, then proceeded to the register. The cashier entered the prices of my items and the register displayed a subtotal of $12.75, however I noticed that the cashier had been multiplying the prices instead of adding them! I was about to draw his attention to this, when I realized that actually the subtotal would be the same if he had added the prices of my items. What were the prices of my four items?
