Question - Pelepah Sdn Bhd acquired 85% of the share capital of Serba Serbi Sdn Bhd on 1 October 2021 at cost of RM500,000. At the acquisition date, retained profit of Serba Serbi Sdn Bhd amounted RM171,000.

At 31 December 2021 Serba Serbi's statement of financial position showed:

Equity share capital RM200,000

Retained profit  RM180,000  

Note: Pelepah use fair value to measure the NCI and the fair value of NCI amounted RM55,650.
