I am writing an essay to the question "what were the goals of native residential schools?" my question is WHY did the canadians want to "civilize" the first nations? all my research assumes that for some reason Canadians wanted to civilize the first nations. was it due to wanting control? or because they thought they were better than them? (with technology for example)
