CASE FACTS:
Juvenile Recommendation
For this example, you are a well-respected probation officer within your community. A judge in the juvenile court system is asking for your recommendation on a juvenile offender, Ranee.
Read the scenario involving Ranee and complete the template at the end of this activity.
Meet Ranee
Ranee is a 16-year-old female that is from a troubled home.
She does well for a while staying out of trouble, but then returns to juvenile delinquency acts when tensions increase within the home. The juvenile has been involved with truancy, drug usage, prostitution, and running away.
The judge wants to see the young female stay out of trouble, but he must also consider the safety of the female and the current home environment.
Now that you have read the scenario involving the 16-year-old juvenile offender, download the template below and provide complete responses to the questions before submitting your assignment. Your responses should demonstrate original thoughts and commentary.
Explain what your recommendation would be for the juvenile in this situation.
In this course, we've discussed many contributing factors that could lead to juvenile delinquency (home life, family, gangs, drugs, mental health, educational challenges, etc.). What do you feel are three of the most common causations of juvenile delinquency?
What were some of the differences that you were surprised to learn about the juvenile justice system (in comparison to the adult criminal justice system)?
The responses should be free of spelling and grammatical errors. The work should demonstrate organized and concise responses that demonstrate the use of critical thinking skills.
