Part 1: Answer these questions:

1. What was your overall reaction to the film?

2. What is the prevalence of "underbanked" or "unbanked" people in the US? Provide statistics from peer-reviewed sources, in addition to any information from the film that you care to include.

3. What does it mean to be underbanked or unbanked, and what are the implications to that, in real life? (Use peer-reviewed sources here, too).

Part 2: Choose at least ONE of the following questions to answer in your paper:

According to some sources, there are more check cashers and payday loaners than Starbucks and McDonalds combined. Why do you think that this is so? Describe at least one theory that might support your perspective.

Why do speakers in the film insist that these people could be you or me? How did they get into this situation, and what might they have done differently? Is it possible that you could be in such a situation? How do policies such as the Affordable Care Act and the Medicaid expansions in some states impact on situations like the ones that people in this film are experiencing? Use peer-reviewed literature to provide context for your response.

In the film, Justin is searching to buy a house, but is limited by his bad credit and inability to prove credit worthiness. Some new companies are looking at cell phone data, bill pay history and job history to determine credit worthiness. What other aspects of a person's financial life could be used to help determine credit worthiness?

Explain how Debbie's student loans impact on her ability to pay her bills and grow her business. What limitations are there on her entrepreneurship?

Part 3: Answer these questions as the last section of your paper:

1. What are the implications of these types of situations for social work? How can social service agencies change or improve their mission to help people like those in this film? Apply at least one concept from your textbook to help support your answer.

2. Pick one of the families/individuals in the film. Explore some options that the family/person might have, here in Central Florida, to move in the direction of their goals, and provide a concrete action plan. Provide explanation for why you make each suggestion and why you think it would work. Focus on applying a generalist model of social work practice, and using a strengths-based perspective.Students will be given three macro case scenarios and asked to apply the generalist model of intervention, emphasizing a strengths perspective when responding to a series of critical thinking questions FOR ONE CASE. Guidelines will be provided by the instructor. You will answer the assigned questions or use the assigned format provided with the case study. You will need to include a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources in this paper. It needs to be minimum 6- maximum10 pages (not including references, cover page, or abstract). Use 12-point font and 1" margins, and APA 6th edition writing style. Grading will be evaluated and graded on the following criteria:

1. Appropriate use of APA 6th edition writing style. (2 pts)

2. Adequate number of appropriate references cited (Wikipedia is NOT a reference). (2 pts)

3. Organization and clarity of ideas presented. (3 pts)

4. Ability to integrate theory and practice appropriately. (3 pts)
