Question 1. Identify an experiment that has been conducted in your field of study; it does not matter how recent it was. Provide a short summary of the experiment, including what was unethical and what was gained from the research.

A. Based on the basic ethical principles in the Belmont Report, what would you recommend changing in this study to bring it up to today's ethical standards?

B. Would making these changes impact the knowledge gained? Why or why not?

Question 2. Write two (2) field note entries, which should be composed of four parts:

  1. Notes: This includes date, time, place, and any other relevant details you think need to be included about where you were when you were completing your entries.
  2. Description: This is a description of everything observed or that can be remembered. You can include images, drawings, etc. in this section.
  3. Analysis: Discuss the specific facts and details of your observation that directly relate to the course concept that the entry is covering.
  4. Reflection: This is where you note your personal thoughts based on your analysis and note any new questions that arise from your observations.

Your field note entries should be specific observations of when you have applied the following course topics in your everyday life:

  • Record a time that you have used the scientific method.
  • Record a time when you "Questioned Authority," as defined in the course presentation above.
