A 4.0-kg bowling ball strikes a 1.0-kg pin. The pin flies forward with a velocity of 16.0 m/s; the ball continues forward at 6.0 m/s. What was the type of the collision between the bowling ball and the pin? Hint: find the initial velocity of the bowling ball. Then use the velocity results to check whether the mechanical energy is conserved before and after the collision.
