Problem 1: Alpha Company began 2019 with a debit balance of $1,350,000 in its Plant, Property, and Equipment (PP&E) account and a credit balance of $475,000 in its Accumulated Depreciation account. During the year it sold two pieces of equipment. The first had accumulated depreciation of $35,000 and was sold for a gain of $15,000. The second had a net book value of $155,000 and was sold for a loss of $13,000. During the year, Omega acquired new equipment for a cost of $315,000. At the end of 2019 the company had a closing balance of $1,425,000 in PP&E and a closing balance of $560,000 in accumulated depreciation. What was the sum of the original cost of the two pieces of equipment sold in 2019?
