Overall Directions: You should take approximately 40 minutes for your response to the essay question, and an additional 30 minutes each for the identification and short answer sections of the assignment. You may consult your textbook while formulating your essay response. However, you are not to consult with any outside sources for the identification or short answer portions of the exam. All of your responses to these questions should be your own work. Do not consult with others or share answers.

A decent essay response should be at least 2 pages in length (double-spaced, with 1-inch margins). A suggested length for the identification responses would be about a paragraph per term, and the short answers should be no longer than a few paragraphs per item.

There are four parts to this assignment: I, II, III, and IV. Remember to complete all of them.

PART I. Essay Directions: Answer the following essay question, explaining your position as thoroughly and as completely as possible, using examples from notes and readings. Use your mind and take your time, in short, be brilliant! Remember that a detailed response is the key to a successful essay answer.

ESSAY Question: The Presidency: What was the original intent for the role of the President, and how has the Executive Office changed over time (think in terms of physical size and range of powers)? What are some of the Constitutional responsibilities and informal duties that the President must perform? Also, in your opinion, how has technology impacted the power of the presidency? Give specific examples to illustrate and support your viewpoint.
