The US government argued that Native Americans, particularly the Cherokees, could not adapt or assimilate to their desired culture. The government contended that the Cherokees were unfamiliar foreign people who occupied land the Caucasians hoped to have (LearnLiberty, 2012). The redistribution scheme became the main motivation behind the government's justification to move the Native Americans of their ancestral land (LearnLiberty, 2012). The government wanted to take the land and possession belonging to the Cherokee and redistribute it to those who didn't have them.

Questiion: What were the ways that the tribes affected attempted to fight removal?

American native tribes attempted to fight the move by the government to have them ejected from their ancestoral land (LearnLiberty, 2012). The Cherokee Nation filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging several laws passed by the state to limit the Indigenous American.
