A rifle bullet of mass 8.6 g is fired into a 1.23 kg block where it becomes embedded. The block rests on a horizontal frictionless surface and is attached to a spring. After impact, the spring is compressed by 13.0 cm. You know that 0.750 N require to compress the spring by 0.250 cm, so what was the initial speed of the bullet?
