Case Study: Go to the Alberta Human Rights Commission website you were introduced to earlier in this module. Make sure you click on Decisions at the top and you will find yourself at the Canlii website which will be restricted to Alberta Human Rights Commission Decisions.

Once you are there, do the following:

Question 1: Find any decision of the Alberta Human Rights Commission that deals with either discriminatory hiring practice or discriminatory job advertisements.

Question 2: Post the following information:

  • Names of the parties involved.
  • What was the basis of the complaint? In other words, what problem brought the parties before the Human Rights Commission?
  • What did the Human Rights Commission decide and why?
  • What do you think? Did the commission make the right decision? Why or why not?
