Please submit a response to the following questions. During class on Wednesday, you will be asked to share information about the candidate you picked during class discussion.

1. Provide a link to at least one news story about your candidate (joe biden) . Try to find a few as it will make the question below easier.

  • What was the content focus of the news coverage of your candidate? An event they were involved in (e.g. a rally)? A scandal or controversy? Who was ahead in the polls? What their issue opinions were? Or what?
  • Explain why they may have focused on this content, rather than other content.

2. If your candidate ran in an election that had a forecast from 538 (generally they forecast presidential, house, and senate), try to find the forecast and provide a link. You will need to Google something like "2016 presidential primary forecast 538," it won't be on the main page anymore.

  • If there was a forecast for the race, were they predicted to win? Was the forecast accurate? If not, explain what you think may have led to the error.
  • If there was not a forecast, explain why you think a major election forecasting website like 538 would choose NOT to forecast this election, especially given the emphasis on "horse-race" coverage.
