The purpose of this assignment is to get you to think about what types of problems you will be solving in your career using data. In this assignment, you choose a topic and the associated problem to solve. You will solve the problem throughout the rest of this course.

Select a topic with your data set from the Signature Assignment Topics and Scenarios. After opening the file, access the topics by clicking the tabs at the bottom of the Excel® spreadsheet. You have six topics to choose from that align to various career disciplines.

Review the data sets help if you are struggling to locate all of the data sets.

Answer the following questions using at least 175 words:

· What topic did you choose?

· Why does it interest you?

· What do you hope to discover in your analysis?

The purpose of this assignment is to have you practice creating visuals using the data from the topic you chose in Week 3. Creating charts and trendlines is an important skill used in many careers.

Create at least two visuals using your data.

· Create a scatter plot of the data, and apply a linear model (also known as a regression) in Excel®.

· Create a scatter plot of the data, and apply an exponential model in Excel®.

· Include the equation and R2 value on the visuals.

· Determine whether the linear or the exponential model is a better representation of your data to make your prediction. Explain why the model you chose is a better representation of your data.

Hints for Making an Effective Chart:

· Decide why you are making a chart from this data.

· Rename the chart title to something appropriate for the data.

· Put in a descriptive x-axis label.

· Put in a descriptive y-axis label.

· Resize the chart as needed so it is easily viewable.

The purpose of this assignment is to use skills you have learned throughout all five weeks of the course. You will be able to apply what you have learned to solve a real world problem that you could solve in your future career.

Create a 5- to 7-minute PowerPoint® presentation including:

· One slide on your topic and question (approximately one minute) (CLO 2.1.2*).

o Which topic and question did you choose?

o Why does it interest you?

· One to two slides of your visuals (approximately 2 to 3 minutes) (CLO2.2.1* & 2.2.3*).

o These should be clear, neat, organized, and labeled.

o Explain why you chose to create these and what you can conclude from the visuals.

o How do these visuals support your conclusion?

· One slide for a conclusion (approximately one minute) (CLO 2.2.2* & 2.1.2*).

o Restate your topic and question and give your answer to the scenario.

o Discuss how your topic and question relate to life.

o Discuss what you learned from this project.

· Include detailed speaker notes for each slide.

Consider the following questions when creating your speaker notes:

· Why did you choose your topic?

· How did you come to your conclusion? Was there limits that you needed to factor in to draw you conclusion (i.e time in a day)?

· Which regression did you choose? Why?
