An investigator wants to assess the association between green tea and type 2 diabetes (T2D) among the elderly. A study is planned to be conducted in a senior home, which has 177 residents. Each senior will be surveyed regarding their daily consumption of green tea. In addition, their medical records will be examined for T2D information.
a) What type of study would this be?
This is a prospective study. (I believe this is correct but I am not too sure)
b) How many factors (variables) are involved in this study? What are they?
There are two factors in this study. One factor/variable is amount of green tea consumed by the elderly. Another variable is the medical records concerning the 177 residents. (I am not sure whether this answer is correct or not, definitely need an explanation)
c) What are the measurement scales for these factors (variables)?
Medical records include nominal data while amount of green tea consumed by seniors is a ratio measurement scale as a natural zero exists. (Once again, not sure whether this answer is correct or not)
