Task Apple vs Samsung
Critique the characteristics of strategic HR plans, policies and systems and evaluate their effectiveness and alignment to organisational goals and strategic objectives.
What is this section asking me?
• How do HR actions (Policies) align with the Business goals?
• Where is the business going?
• What are the business goals and objectives?
• Is HR going is the same direction - How is it demonstrating this?
• Give examples of how the business is aligned or not aligned to the business?
• What does this say about the Business and HR strategy?
• What type of strategy has HR adopted?
Areas which require critical review include - but are not limited to - recruitment, induction and staff development, employee retention, rewards and benefits, employment relations, grievance and discipline of an international organisation of your choice and present a power point presentation on how the policies support the strategic objectives of the organisation.
What is this section asking me?
• This section is asking you to look at the HR actions (policies) and how the HR or People Management Actions align to the business goals?
• All this section is doing is expanding on the first section, asking you to look at specific HR actions of this business and how are they aligned to the Business Goals.
Adapt the above to an organisation of your choice; practical examples should be included and you will be expected to demonstrate understanding of the selected Strategic HRM of the case of your choice (characteristics). Critique its relation to the organisation's strategic objectives.
What is this section asking me?
• This section is asking you to find me examples / cases related to your business that demonstrate alignment or none alignment (Explaining on the section above - give me evidence and examples!!)
• You could describe here what type of approach they have taken to employee relation, recruitment, reward, training, development, retention etc.... This is where you being in theory!! I must see theory referenced correctly within your presentations - in text Citations are essential, not optional!
It will be expected, where possible to highlight the link of organisation's policies and procedures to statute and or other external agencies (not focusing only in the UK, but internationally).
What is this section asking me?
• Remember - It must be an international organisation!!
Involvement of these third parties in the design or creation of the organisations policy should be drawn on within your presentation.
