Question: Read the following scenario and answer the questions that follow. Solo Bistro inducts all new employees into the business through a "Welcome-on-board" meeting. It gives new employees an overview of the company, standards and expectations. New employees will also meet their trainer, and tour the restaurant. Crew trainers work shoulder-to-shoulder with trainees while they learn the operations skills necessary for running each of the six workstations in the restaurant, from the front counter to the grill area. They also learn to operate state-of-the-art foodservice equipment and gain knowledge of Solo Bistro operational procedures.

Most of the training is ?oor-based, or on-the-job training (OJT). After this initial training period, all trainees will be evaluated. This is done using ;Observation Checklists for the station they are working at. Trainees who do not perform well will receive on-going training.

(a) From your perspective, what type of learners is best suited for a restaurant such as Solo Bistro? Provide evidence from the scenario to support your answer.

(b) In the scenario, "Most of the training is ?oor-based, or on-the-job training (OJT)". Suggest TWO (2) reasons why OJT is a suitable training method for Solo Bistro.

(c) In chronological order, identify the FOUR (4) stages for on-the-job training (OJT). Using facts from the scenario above, justify if Solo Bistro follows the stages of OJT.

(d) On-the-job training may not be suitable for every company. Provide THREE (3) reasons why some companies opt for external training.
