Problem

My public issue is the opioid epidemic and how it has affected individuals and families. The opioid crisis is a public health concern that has been on the rise in recent years. I wanted to conduct my presentation on the different severity of the crisis and the multiple interventions that have been created to help. There are multiple gaps in goal attainment in this topic. One of the biggest gaps is the lack of education and promotion of the negative effects of opioid use. Many citizens are not aware of the impact opioid use can have on their community. I want to address this by showing the importance of educating public health topics and providing resources for people who need help. I believe by having health educators go to schools, health facilities, workplaces, and ext. we will be able to promote the importance of aiding with this epidemic. Also, providing people with information on Narcan can help with the rise in overdoses in our country. Each public health topic that you choose is going to have gaps within the goals that are made. It is important to look at what type of intervention and resources would have the biggest positive.
