Target Evaluation
Evaluate the store "Target" layout, design and visual merchandising techniques employed. DO NOT JUST "ANSWER" THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BUT USE THE QUESTIONS BELOW AS A GUIDELINE TO A CRITCICAL ANALYSIS OF THE STORE ITSELF.
It is expected that the assignment should be 4 pages, 1 1/2 spaced, Times New Roman with 1" margins.
1) Appearance
Is the store layout, design and visual merchandising techniques used consistent with the exterior of the store and the location? What does it say about the type of store this is and the market it is trying to attract?
Is the store's ambiance consistent witht he merchandise presented and does it meet your expectations as a customer?
Does the store need a face lift, update, remodel or renovation? What improvements would you suggest?
2) Fixtures
Does the lighting highlight the merchandise, structure space, capture a mood, or downplay unwanted features?
What type of image do the fixtures portray?
3) Promotion
Evaluate the store's signage. Does it effectively sell merchandise?
Has the retailer used any theatrical effects to help sell merchandise? Does the store make creative use of wall space to sell product?
How does the store use suggestive selling? Is the image of the staff consistent with the image of the store?
4) Layout
Does the store layout draw people throughout the store? Why or why not?
How does the layout facilitate purchases? What type of layout is used? Would another type of layout be better?
5) Merchandising
Has the retailer employed any techniques for achieving greater space productivity?
Are there any displays that increase interest in the products being offered? If not, would you recommend any?
How has the retailer organized the merchandise? What improvements could be made?
6) Summarize your suggestions on how this retailer can improve the shopping experience for their customers, increase salesm and improve their image.
