A 0.500 kg block is attached to one end of a 4.00 g string. The other end of the string is secured to the center of a frictionless tabletop. The block rotates about the tabletop with a constant angular velocity of 10.0 rad/s. Knowing this, we set out to find out how much time it would take for a wave to travel along the string, from the center of the table to the block.

(a) What type of force must the tension in the string provide? How is this force related to the angular velocity of the box?

(b) Express the velocity of a wave traveling across the string in terms of the tension in the string.

(c) Now, how long would it take for a wave to travel from the center of the table to the box?
