Assignment: Computer System Design Project
You will start an E-commerce company from scratch and you must figure out which computer system (s) and software to purchase for use. It can be a company of your choice that provides a service to customers or end users.
The bank approved you for a loan of $3,000,000 and $1,000,000 has to be dedicated to the first year for technology. To get the remaining balance you must present to the bank the type of business, systems and software that your company will use. Since various companies are not brick and mortar and are only online, this gives you ability to see the cost of software and how it is managed in a company in the virtual world. Make sure you think outside the box to cover all fees, specifications, and materials. Be creative as possible and have fun designing this system.
Create a 10 page document on the design using Word. You can research real companies that provide this services and their costs to see how they function. A template will be provided.
The design must include the following:
Introduction on your type of business and what are your ultimate goals for the business.
Purpose of the Computer System?
The type of Operating System? (Linux, Windows, Mac, Unix)
What type of cloud service are you using? (PaaS, Iaas, Saas)
Diagram of how the system will work? (How does it work this is a diagram showing what the system should do Use Word or Powerpoint to create it.)
Max number of users? (How many end users or customers can be on the system at once so there is no lag)
Will it mobile friendly? ( Will you have a separate app so customers can use it)
Security Measures? (Encryption, Security, MFA)
Software licenses? (How many licenses will you need for employees in your company).
Maintenance Costs? (Budget for yearly costs to keep your system updated with patches and fixes)
Disaster Recovery Plan? ( What will you do if a natural disaster or a fire happens, how will you keep your company running?)
Each section must include:
Why you are using the chosen technology or software?
Costs and functionalities?
How it will make your company more efficient?
How long you plan to use the technology or system?
All costs must equal the $1,000,000 you have been given by the bank.
