Assignment: A Persuasive Ad:

Select a cause to be the focus of your ad. Your topic could be social (persuading people to buy local or organic foods or getting people to reduce their carbon emissions), political (persuading people to vote for a particular candidate or support a particular issue such as climate change or welfare reform), or a public service announcement (stop texting and driving, prevent teens from starting to smoke).
An infographic. Be sure your cause and what you are trying to persuade people to do are clear
Write a description of the psychological principles underlying your ad. Your description should include the following elements:
Which dimensions of personality would be most affected by your ad? That is, how would your ad affect people who are high on one of the Big Five personality traits? How would it affect people who are low on the same trait?
How do the principles of conformity and obedience interact with your ad? That is, how does your ad use the tendency to conform to social norms or peer pressure to encourage adoption of your point of view?
Does your ad depend on the central or peripheral route? Be sure to include mention of the specific evidence from your ad to support your answer.
What "tricks" does your ad use to persuade? Identify and explain at least TWO "tricks."
