Question 1 - The APRN practice has multifaceted roles. Name the 4 types of APRN. Discuss a brief historical development for each role and describe the general responsibilities of each profession.

Question 2 - What trends or issues do you consider to be the most important for APRNs with regards to credentialing and licensure? What barriers or challenges have slowed the progress of advanced practice registered nursing? Which legislative issues at the local, state, or national level influence policies related to APRN practice?

Question 3 - APRN practice is based on standardized procedures and practice guidelines. Discuss how evidence-based research shapes and forms the protocols and guidelines by which APRN practice is mandated. Physicians are free to practice within their own individualized standards. How do APRNs incorporate consultation and collaboration with their supervising MDs while giving evidence-based care?

Question 4 - Describe the reimbursement mechanisms (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers, and HMOs) for APRNs and compare and contrast with those for physicians. Describe any differences in the fee schedules. Can APRNs own their own practices in your state? Why or why not?

Question 5 - Think about a successful healthcare environment where you worked. In detail, discuss one or two habits of system thinking by a team member or leader who you observed in that environment. Do you think these habits improved efficiency and the care delivered to patients? Why or why not?

Question 6 - What is data mining? Discuss how EHR is related to data mining. What is the potential of healthcare data mining? How can it benefit or improve patient outcomes? Finally, explain why knowledge work and data mining are important for clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.

Question 7 - In your own words, describe the OPT model and the CCCR model. How have you used it in caring for patients and their families in a clinic setting?

Question 8 - What effect does effective care coordination have on quality and or cost outcomes? Do you think that care coordination can reduce hospital readmissions, improve quality of life, and curb healthcare expenditures? Provide examples from your clinical experience and research findings.
