The psychology of pricing plays a role in Walmart's pricing strategy because walmart will list prices as $4.99 0r $4.49 rather than the whole price of $5. Many stores will list their prices lower than the whole dollar because most people would rather spend $4.99 over $5 when looking at prices even if it is only by a cent or a couple cents. Apple used the same strategy by listing phones as prices like $899.99 or music for .99, seeing prices like this will catch customers eyes more.

Women are more price sensitive because they will look for better prices on products when men tend to buy what they need no matter what the price is and be done with their shopping.
