Assessment Task 3 (AT3) - Ministerial Briefing Note

Scenario: Assume you are a Policy and Research Officer (Environmental Health Branch, Department of Health).

A new Government Minister has been appointed and requests a Briefing Note* to prepare for an upcoming International Environmental Health meeting.

The Minister has asked you the question: "what the key population growth challenges, environmental health issues and infectious disease risks in current or future Mega-cities". (Mega-cities are urban areas of more than 10 million people).

For this Assessment task (AT3), research and prepare the Briefing Note that considers the challenges common to most mega-cities. Do not focus on any specific Mega-city (AT3).

The Briefing Note should include a minimum of 10 references using Vancouver style.

AT3 and AT4 are linked and designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of contemporary population and environmental health issues and challenges. Read both assessment task instructions (AT3 and AT4) before you start.

Assessment Task 4 (AT4) - Environmental Health Report

Details: Write a detailed report on contemporary Population and Environmental Health issues affecting Mega-cities OR Small Island Developing States.

This assessment builds on the general knowledge you have gained with the Ministerial Briefing Note (AT3). If you researched Mega-cities, you can continue with this theme in AT4 or decide to change focus to Small Island Developing States. And vice versa.

Prepare a report that presents detailed information on the actual and current environmental health issues for Mega-cities or Small Island Developing States.

Consider a range of references to support your report.

Provide a brief introduction to the report.

Name and describe some of the Mega-cities or Small Island Developing States of relevance - geography, population characteristics, natural environment and hazard factors, level of social and economic development, political governance.

Outline the key current environmental and population health issues in the case study location. Investigate and document these challenges and obstacles. Include:

Planetary health (Anthropocene)
Population growth
Infectious disease risk
Disaster planning
Urbanization
Climate change
Pollution

Present examples of current policies, projects or plans that are actually being implemented to address these challenges and obstacles.

Critically appraise these policies, projects or plans.

Provide a concise conclusion to the report.

Support your report with relevant maps, data tables and graphs (maximum of 5).

The report should include a minimum of 20 references using Vancouver style.

Note - AT3 and AT4 are linked and designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of contemporary population and environmental health issues and challenges. Read both assessment task instructions (AT3 and AT4) before you start.

Word Count: 750 Words - 750 words public health assignment. Because I need to get in research. "Actually i need the assignment is AT3. But I have sent AT4 because in rubric she recommended to follow both AT3 and AT4 instructions. AT3 is connected to AT4." Follow both assignment instructions because they are interlinked.
