A Military Psychologist conducted an experiment to determine if there is a difference in the performance of soldiers facing live ammunition and non-live ammunition. She has a group of n = 25 soldiers fulfill a drill where they attempt to rescue a captured soldier being held in an underground cave complex. No live ammunition is fired at the soldiers during this drill. She has a second group of n = 25 soldiers fulfill a drill in which they attempt to capture a small squad of enemy soldiers driving a truckload of explosives through a small village. Live ammunition is fired at soldiers during this drill. She assigns each of the soldiers in her experiment a performance score that ranges in value from 0-50 points. Higher performance scores indicate higher soldier performance during the assigned drills. The results revealed that the soldiers who faced live ammunition had significantly higher performance scores than the soldiers who faced no live ammunition during the assigned drills.
