Problem-

Researchers examining the effectiveness of a short course that teaches diabetic self-care. Fifty diabetic patients were enrolled in the course, and fifty others served as a control group. (Patients were randomly assigned between the two groups.) Six months after the course, blood sugar levels were tested and results obtained as follows:

Diabetic course group: mean = 6.5, standard deviation = 0.7
Control group: mean = 7.1, standard deviation = 0.9
At a significance level of 0.01, does the diabetic course succeed in lowering patients' blood sugar?
