According to the Sackur-Tetrode equation, the entropy of a monatomic ideal gas can become negative when its temperature (and hence its energy) is sufficiently low. Of course this is absurd, so the Sackur-Tetrode equation must be invalid at very low temperatures. Suppose you start with a sample of helium at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, then lower the temperature holding the density fixed. Pretend that the helium remains a gas and does not liquefy. Below what temperature would the Sackur-Tetrode equation predict that S is negative?
4-Methylphenol CH3C6H4OH pKa 10.26, is only slightly soluble in water, however its sodium salt, CH3C6H4O-Na+ is quite soluble in water. Explain the solubility of 4-methylphenol in each of the subsequent solutions NaOH, NaHCO3, Na2CO3
Write a complete balanced equation for the neutralization reaction between HCl and NaOH.
The pKa of acetic acid, HC2H3O2, is 4.76. A buffer solution was made using an unspecified amount of acetic acid and 0.30 mol of NaC2H3O2 in enough water to make 1.50 L of solution. Its pH was measured as 4.50 on a meter.
0.33g of koh is dissolved in 350.0ml of ethanol and 1.45g of c2h5i is dissolved in 350.0ml of ethanol. assuming the
