Vietnam During the Vietnam era, people held polarizing opinions on the US war effort in East Asia. Many men and women supported the war effort, while others protested the military draft and the continuation of conflict. This polarization carried over to musicians of the era, where some artists celebrated the military conflict and others condemned it through song. For the class discussion, read "During Vietnam War, Music Spoke to Both Sides of a Divided Nation" in the course documents tab. After reading the document, listen and analyze one of the songs mentioned in the article. What message is the artist trying to deliver in their song? What techniques do they use in their songs? Which groups of US citizens would listen to the song you chose? What do these songs tell us about the Vietnam War era?
