Storytelling and storyboards are an effective method of communicating and reporting on a Performance Improvement Team's activities and final outcomes. You will have an opportunity to view and critique an actual storyboard, using criteria for the development of effective storyboards.

How can storyboards support quality improvement in healthcare? This assignment asks you to explore this question.

First, study a storyboard used in performance improvement. You can search the Internet using the phrase "quality improvement storyboard" or try the website of the Radiologic Society of North America.

Once you have chosen a storyboard to review and critique, answer the following review questions in a 1-2 page Word document.

1. What storyboard are you reviewing? (If it has a link on the Internet, include that, or attach a PDF.)

2. Is every step of the performance improvement process represented on the storyboard? Explain.

3. Does the storyboard follow a logical sequence, easy to read and appealing to the eye? Describe your reactions.

4. Is every step of the process easy to understand by what is used to represent it on the storyboard? Explain, pointing to examples.

5. Do the mission and vision statement contain the required elements and relate to the performance improvement process? Explain with details.

6. Is the data portion displayed in an easy to read format? Describe and explain your response.

7. Are the findings of the performance improvement process stated? How do you know this? Explain what you found.

8. Are the team's recommendations supported by the data? Explain.

9. Based on the data presented, share at least one other recommendation for improving this storyboard.
