Case: Book related to a population that is unfamiliar to you - ideally this will be a modern novel or nonfiction book but classic literature, creative non-fiction and other popular culture texts are acceptable if you can justify your selection. Some suggestions and resources are listed below or you may also choose your own book. As we explore cultural awareness in this course, we address self-awareness, knowledge and skill development. For the paper, please answer the following:

Question 1: Describe your level of self-awareness about this culture - What did you know before reading the book; What stereotypes did you have' and What did you learn to use in life after reading the book?

Question 2: Provide a summary of the book. What do you think was one key point the author wanted their reader to understand about this culture?

Question 3: Select one passage/sentence/idea related to cultural awareness that resonated for you, surprised you or educated you and explain why?

Question 4: Provide at least one example of how a character was multidimensional and contextual.
