Informational Interview
This assessment is your final written work, and it must include the following:
1. A face-to-face interview:• To be conducted with a professional from your chosen career• Your interviewee will be a person (preferably a manager or one in a higher position) in your industry, working in Australia• You must prepare well in advance to conduct the interviewo Contact several people you wish to interview to ensure that if one says ‘no' you have a backup. It is recommended you do the interview at least two weeks prior to the assignment deadlineo Call and send an invitation to confirm a time/date to do the interview (ensure it is in a public place near their place of work, if possible)•o Prepare your questions for the interview and learn as much as possible about the person you will interview prior to speaking with them (take notes and/or record the interview with their permission)
2. Include your Reflective Journal notes• Incorporate your interview findings with your learningso You must argue how/if what the interviewee said relates to what you have learnt from your Reflective Journal notes and the relevant literature• Ensure you note the skills required in your profession and what you need to further developo Explain why the skills identified are importanto Include a detailed strategy of how you will improve your capacitieso What steps will you take to achieve your career goals.
