Question
Martin, Monique and Mai are working on a project together. They had been working well together until Martin made an important decision without consulting the rest of the team.
Monique and Mai strongly disagree with his decision and want him to reverse the action, Mai in particular gets very upset and yells at Martin in front of other staff in the office kitchen. They decide that each side must state their case and present their findings on why they are right.
The team then compares sides and tries to objectively choose the best course of action. Martin apologises for not consulting his team members in his rashness to complete the task but explains that he thinks it is the best way forward. Monique and Mai agree that despite believing Martin was too rash in his decision, his strategy is currently the best way forward.
The team agrees collectively that no more important decisions will be made without consultation with team members and that they will have two weekly meetings to ensure that lines of communication remain open.
